Air India is expanding its network connectivity between India and Canada for the winter season 2026-27 through a brand new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the Delhi-Toronto flight and a seasonal Mumbai-Toronto flight as well. This step has been taken keeping in mind the overall strategy of fleet renewal and expansion by the airline.

New Boeing 787-9 Arrives in Delhi 

The fourth Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner of Air India, bearing the registration number VT-AWD, has arrived in Delhi after leaving Boeing’s Everett facility, Washington. This aircraft has been equipped with Air India’s latest three-class layout, which includes Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.

Deployment of the new aircraft has taken place on the Delhi-Toronto route, thereby introducing the newest cabin products of Air India in the Canadian market.

Delhi-Toronto Service Gets More New Aircraft 

In the winter season 2026-27 schedule, Air India is set to run 10 flights per week on the route from Delhi to Toronto, out of which seven flights will be served by the Boeing 787-9 and the remaining three by Boeing 777-300ER.

Starting from January 2027, the other three services will be upgraded to the Boeing 787-9 as more planes are added to the fleet. This will guarantee that all Delhi-Toronto flights operate with either new or refurbished cabins.

New Mumbai-Toronto Flights 

Three weekly non-stop flights between Mumbai and Toronto will be commenced by Air India on October 25, 2026, till March 26, 2027. The Boeing 777-300ER planes with upgraded First Class Suites, Business Class Flat Beds and Economy will serve the route.

Air India announced that the new service will provide an additional 2,000 seats per week from India to Canada, with overall capacity from India to Canada growing by 4,400 seats per month. Also, there will be an increase in premium capacity to Toronto by 71%.

More Connectivity for Indian Travelers 

Through the expanded network, travelers flying between India and Canada are able to link up from Air India’s Delhi and Mumbai connecting centers to cities such as Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana, and Vadodara.

In summary, Air India will have 20 departures weekly from India to Canada for the winter 2026-27 season, further cementing its standing in the India-Canada long-haul market.
