Saudi Arabia has introduced Package Visa, an electronic travel package aimed at making international travel simpler by including the visa application process in the process of booking travel packages. Package Visa enables an individual to make an application for a visa and travel services such as flight booking and hotel reservations through authorized travel agencies. The objective behind this is the improvement of the travel process as well as the development of the tourism industry in the Kingdom under the Vision 2030 policy.
What Is Saudi Arabia's Package Visa?
Package Visa is a bundled digital service which enables qualified tourists to obtain their tourist visas in conjunction with purchasing a specially selected tour package. The travelers do not have to go through visa procedures separately, which makes the entire booking process hassle-free and easy.
The program is being implemented through travel and tourism agencies in selected international markets before its roll-out on a worldwide scale.
What's Included in the Package Visa?
Based on the chosen package, tourists will have the opportunity to use:
Travel Component | What's Included |
Tourist Visa | Electronic visa arrangement |
Round-trip Flights | Included in the travel package |
Hotel Accommodation | Authorized hotels and tourist accommodation |
Tourism Experiences | Optional guided tours, attractions, and event access |
Travel Planning | One stop booking service |
The idea is to make the process of organizing the travel components less troublesome.
How the Package Visa Works
The new system operates using the entire digital booking procedure.
Choose one of the approved travel agencies that provides Package Visa service.
Choose one of the suitable travel packages.
Include flights and accommodations.
Submit traveler information in a digital format.
Tourist visa application is included in the booking process.
Visa approval together with confirmation of booking will be received electronically.
This makes the whole procedure much more efficient in minimizing paperwork and saving time for the foreign visitor.
Countries Included in the Initial Rollout
The pilot program has been initiated by Saudi Arabia in certain global markets that include:
India
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Indonesia
Jordan
Egypt
Mexico
Global roll-out is expected to take place after the pilot stage.
Key Benefits for Travelers
Several benefits are offered by the Package Visa over the conventional method of processing visa applications.
Easier Travel Arrangements
A single booking will help travelers make travel arrangements including flight, accommodations, and visa-related services.
Simplified Visa Application
Since the visa application is a part of the booking process itself, there will be no need for tourists to make an additional visa application.
Entirely Digital Process
All from the reservation process to the issuing of the visa can be completed online, thus making traveling easier.
Packages with Flexible Options
Visitors can create their own personalized schedule by including:
Cultural destinations
Adventurous activities
Entertainment activities
Guides for sightseeing tours
Improved Convenience of Travel
By making one booking instead of multiple bookings, the process becomes easier.
Benefits for Travel Agencies
The Package Visa is anticipated to open up new areas for businesses for the travel companies by offering complete holiday packages rather than separate bookings.
Feature for Travel Agencies | Potential Benefits |
Packages including travel | More valuable customers |
Integrated digital visas | Smooth booking process |
Tailored itineraries | Better customer experience |
Complete travel solutions | Greater sales opportunities |
This initiative is aimed at making travel agencies complete travel service companies, not just flight or hotel booking firms.
Supporting Saudi Arabia's Tourism Vision
Package Visa is yet another move toward Saudi Arabia’s long-term transformation in the tourism sector. There have been many visitor-oriented steps taken by Saudi Arabia in recent years and some of them include:
Tourist E-visa
Visa upon Arrival
Transit Stopover Visa
Digital Tourism Services
Integrated Package Visa
The purpose of these initiatives is to make Saudi Arabia more accessible to attract tourists from abroad.
Package Pricing
As per the preliminary launch, travel packages begin at around SAR 4,000, but prices can vary due to the following factors:
Flight Class
Hotel Category
Stay Duration
Inclusive experiences
Season of travel
Travelers are advised to make comparisons between packages provided by authorized operators before making any bookings.
What This Means for Future Travelers
The implementation of the Package Visa highlights the emerging trend towards comprehensive digital travel solutions. In contrast to the approach of separating the application for the visa from the rest of the process, Saudi Arabia plans to integrate it into the travel planning procedure.
With the success of the pilot project, the possibility of more countries and tour operators participating in this scheme is likely to be high, thus enabling tourists from other countries to easily enter Saudi Arabia without much hassle. With the growing trend of global tourism through online channels, such projects may change the way international holidays are organized in the future.
